I pulled my fridge last weekend just to check it out before our upcomming vacation and found that the cooling fan was not working.  I replaced the motor and all is well with it now except that after work when I get in to drive home and the inside of the Vanagon is like an oven, the fan is running.  It shuts off after I start driving and the inside temp drops.

Is this normal for the fan to run whenever the fins on the rear of the fridge are hot or is there a way to shut off power to the fan when I'm not using the fridge.  (I've never used the fridge before)
