I've often been annoyed by the lack of access to this area when the seat is
folded into the bed mode.  My old '68 Westy had a drop down door in this
panel, and this is the way to do it on the Vanagon. Since the panel supports
the bed set up as well as the seat set up it isn't feasible to make the
whole panel fold down.

Adding an access door to the area right of the heater is something
Westphalia Werke should have done.

Now, if I could just find a source for that special edge banding to match
the other doors this would be a piece of cake!
