I had this happen on a 91 syncro.  Come to find out that the PO had replaced the big
rubber hose from the filler to the metal pipe with a Gates hose.  The hose had
collaped and I had to dribble the fuel in.  I found the problem by taking the fuel collar
off - not difficult to do.  Good luck.  Malcolm
