Subject: stranded in san francisco...need watercooled westy tech help

Hello all.....

my buddy is stranded in san fancisco...his 87 westy
will not sputter or backfire or even attempt to
iginite....even when spraying ether directly into it's
manifold...he is very mechanically competent and he
and i are stumped....

he gets good spark, it turns over just fine (battery
and starter good)....compression is there (120
psi)....injectors have good spray pattern....basic
electrical checks on coil, air flow meter, oxygen
sensor, and computer seem to indicate all is well....

the engine was having troubles under 2000 rpms until
it warmed up for the last couple weeks, then 2 days
ago, he was running just fine, came to a stop sign and
it quit....it was plenty warm, and it would not
restart....(he thinks it is not the cold start
injector because of this fact)

we both think it has to be an ignition problem....but
dont know where to look next...any experiences/tips
could be very helpful.....thanks, mark laken
