A guy I knew back in the 80's, had a Dasher. Someone kept stealing his radio. He glued razor blades to the back of the 3rd replacement. Well, regardless of the blood all over the interior and having the sh#t kicked out of the passenger side of the car, his radio was never stolen again. -Steven Dodson Kneeland, CA "Inga" the 87 Syncro -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf Of George Goff Sent: Wednesday, September 04, 2002 7:56 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Self-tapping Theft Prevention In a message dated 9/4/02 9:46:50 AM, 72510.1173@COMPUSERVE.COM writes: << Does anyone have any clever prevention techniques? >> Abstinence. No, really now, it is common knowledge that the greasers during the fifties were known to line their fender skirts with razor blades in order to prevent theft. Sure. While I cannot attest to that, I did once see the bloody trail left by the one too many drunks who tried to tear down the hanging sign over the entrance to my buddy's go-go bar (known today as a gentlemen's club). It takes some balls to do something like this. But, more importantly, it takes even more presence of mind whenever the van is taken in to have the coolant changed. George
