Hello folks:
    I've got one for you.   I just bought an '87 w/ a waterboxer.  I'm
not new to vanagons though, I had a very creaky I4 conversion for 5
years.   So today as I prepare for my CA smog I decide to adjust the
rather high idle down to something reasonable.   In the process I
notice a disconnected wire, which turns out to lead to the idle
stabilizer valve.  I plug it in and restart the van.   Now I have a
"hunting" idle which runs the engine at about 2500-3000 (3-4 seconds)
and then drops it down to 500-750 (1-2 seconds).   This is clear
incorrect behavior.    So, what should I look for?  how should I
proceed?
