I'd rather do an engine or tranny conversion (like manual to auto)
than do an AC conversion. It's a BIG job.

I've done a couple of A/C "change-overs", but never on a
Vanagon/Westy. There's a reason why.

It's do-able, but you'd better be committed (to the job, not to an
institution. But maybe you will want to be before you finish it...)
