All this talk about O2 sensors -- When I got my van 2 years ago, the O2 sensor was disconnected and remained disconnected up until the time I did my head gasket repair and started trying to fix the idle hunting problem. In the course of trying to resolve this problem, I connected and disconnected the sensor with absolutely no apparent effect. I had been getting 19-21 mpg right up until the head gasket failure. Did the PO have some sort of magic wand to make the van run so well without an O2 sensor or is something hopelessly jimmied up?
