I bought a 90 Vanagon in July and have been getting it ready for a   drive
from northern California to southern Mexico. I have an extensive list of
work to be done and spare parts to be acquired, mostly gleaned from The
People's Guide to Mexico. I'd like to hear from people who have made similar
journeys in similar vehicles (Mine is a water-cooled automatic) tires, fuel
filter, belts, master brake cylinder and front pads are all new.
