"Cracked up to be" as in cracked header pipes? .But if I could sell my Westfalia for 22 grand I would sell it too! It's not about the engine. I have driven on a 1995 Golf engine for the last 4 years. If it had anymore power I'd miss those dirt roads I love to find. Reliability? The inline four is a proven engine, I've said before, and it surpasses the WBX in many ways. I know because I work on and drive both. Most Tiico problems deal with the parts -some aren't up to par. The engine is sold by Tiico, not made by them. SO there are some failings, for example the solid-mount non-bellows headers. This resolved by using the bellows down pipes from a 93-later Golf-Jetta. So some of the external components are weak. And it's a lot of money to spend on less than perfect. I would want to trim off these parts if I was buying a kit from Tiico at a reduced cost. I would replace several of the parts with better US Golf- Jetta parts. I've coined a new word with my 2 cents-"critiicocism".
