Frank: If you monitor the O2 sensor while it's still attached to the ECU what you're seeing is the effect of the ECU reacting to the voltage from the O2 sensor, which is reacting to what the ECU is doing, and so on. You want to set your air/fuel mixture *without* the O2 sensor giving feedback to the ECU. This gives the O2 sensor its maximum possible range of adjustment to later changes in the system. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Young '81 Vanagon Lafayette, CA 94549 '82 Westfalia ---------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank Condelli" <RAlanen@AOL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Monday, October 21, 2002 2:49 AM Subject: Re: adjusting CO with O2 sensor In a message dated 10/21/2002 12:11:53 AM Eastern Daylight Time, LISTSERV@GERRY.VANAGON.COM writes: > > I disconnect the O2 sensor from the ECU and then monitor the > > output of the sensor while making the adjustments. > Ken, why would you not leave the O2 sensor plugged to the ECU and just > T into the O2 sensor ?
