I have done this. Buy the blue ice from Safeway or wherever, and freeze it at home. The more full you get the fridge, the longer it stays cold. I have also used a box of 100 Otter Pops as ice--they fit into all the small spaces around things, and make a tasty snack later on. On one trip (two days), half of them were still frozen when I got home.... bmc :) "Faith will move mountains, but you'd better bring a shovel...." > From: Gordy Jones <westyutah@YAHOO.COM> > Reply-To: Gordy Jones <westyutah@YAHOO.COM> > Date: Tue, 15 Oct 2002 16:03:34 -0700 > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Using the fridge as an ice box > > I have used the fridge off of DC power and a few times with the AC power in > preperation for a road trip but I have never actually used the propane option. > Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has use ever made any modifications to > simply use the fridge as an ice box still utilizing the convenient shelfs but > using ice rather than power. if so, what works the best? > > > ===================================== > ~83 Green Air-Cooled Westy > > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Faith Hill - Exclusive Performances, Videos, & more > faith.yahoo.com >
