I assume this "muffler sealer" and "fiberglass fabric" you speak of is the common stuff found in blister packs at most FLAPS? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Young '81 Vanagon Lafayette, CA 94549 '82 Westfalia ---------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stan Wilder" <wilden1@JUNO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Friday, October 25, 2002 8:21 AM Subject: Square EGR Canisters - Repair > I've patched about five of them and just always throw them in on other > sales, never sold one. > I grind them down to bare metal, apply a layer of muffler sealer with > fiberglass fabric then I bake them in the oven at 400 degrees. > After that I sand them down and apply more Fiberglas and muffler sealer. > Then bake them again. > The muffler seal is about the same color as the OEM paint was. > That is a lot more heat than they'll ever get in their application. > Its kind of tedious but everybody that I sent one has been happy with > saving $150.00 + for new ones.
