I've thought about getting larger rims to make it easier to find
tires, but alloy rims are too expensive for me and I'm not sure about their
maintenance and care. Is there a 15" steel wheel that will fit my 85? (with
minimal work and minimal price ;) ). Thanks! >>

sure mercedes e-class steel wheels. they have lugholes large enough to
accommodate the vanagon 14 mm studs/bolts. alloy wheels are a different
story. usually. only the s-class and m-class cars got 14 mm bolts. problem
with those is the offset is too far off. i rercently bought a set of 15"
e-class steel rims with nearly new tires and full face hubcaps for $80.

there are audi rims which can fit as well but most are hubcentric. would
require too much work for most folks to clearance the centerbore.
