That's what I get for trying to help trouble shoot right after
working a mid-shift. I must have over simplified a bit. Allow me to
elucidate.
He established there is a problem with cylinders 2 & 4. He said
he replaced the plugs, cap and rotor, if memory serves me, but not the
wires. I have had a plug wire fail inside the metal shield at the plug
end. A small hole developed in the rubber, internal boot allowing most
of the spark to flow directly to ground. If he swaps plug wire # 3, for
plug wire #4, and repeats the "rpm test", he should be able to see if the
problem follows the wire or not. I suggested 3 & 4 because they are
easier to reach. Worked for me.
Same for the injectors. Though a smaller probability, I thought
that possibly; the signal wasn't getting to the injectors. Swapping the
wires to injectors 3 & 4 and repeating the "rpm test" would be easier(
and safer) than pulling the injectors. If you pulled the injectors first,
and found a problem, you would still have to test the wiring.
Good Luck and Drive Safely
