I have a 1985 Doublecab.  Are the springs the same as in a Vanagon?

I have 200,000+ miles and am going to overhaul the suspension. Anyone
have any suggestions for what worked great for them, and did it meet all
of your expectations?  I'd like to corner better and also lower the
Dblcab about 1 1/2" but keep as smooth a ride as possible.  Is this
possible?  I already installed new gas shocks.
