I've got a cold start problemon a 2.1 engine I need some help with. On cold start idle will initially go to 1000 rpm then drop back to 800 ~ 900. Then intermittently go up and down. Very rough idle and will usually die and need to be restarted. Once warm all is good. I have checked the Temp II switch and have installed a new one and tried several others all with the same results. BUT, when the temp II switch wires are unplugged the idle goes up to where it should be for a cold start situation. The colder out it is the worse the situation. I'm talking about Canadian cold here in the Ottawa Valley just in case you didn't get that part of the story ! Could it be the ECU ? Throttle valve position switches are working and set correctly. Idle stabiliser valve working and I've changed it out with known good ones just to see if there was any difference...none. Also changed out the idle stabiliser control unit to a known good one and that made no difference either. I'm stumped ! I'm beginning to believe all the temp II switches I have, including two new ones are faulty ! Is that possible ? Don't even answer that question !
