Ken I have a book containing reprinted magazine articles about Vanagons/Transporters that has an article about a South African Turbo kit that would give a carburated 1.9 WB a 0 to 100 km/hr (about 0 to 60 mph) time of 12.99 sec. They changed the pistons to give a 7.2 to 1 compression ratio. For comparison Road and Track gave the US model 1.9 WB a 0 to 60 time of 18.3 sec. For more information check out Volkswagen Bus-Camper-Van 1979 - 1989 from Brooklands Books. I bought my copy from California Imports, the US distributor is Motorbooks at 715 294 3345 or 800 826 6600.
