Hi Chris, This is a "Zen and the Art of Vanagon Patience" r&r, but it can be done pretty easily. Using the standard depth 24mm socket (1/2" drive), then a 1/2" to 3/8" drive reducer as an extension, then a 3/8" drive ratchet. You will need to remove the belts in the way, and push the exhaust heat shield back just a little. Break it loose with the ratchet, then use your fingers on the socket to unscrew. Mine had the wire zip-tied to the sender, to keep it out of the belts. Leave the zip-tie on the wire, then you can slide it back onto the new sender without having to use a new one in those tight quarters. tx, bmc :) Ben McCafferty ben@volkscafe.com Volks Cafe 1823 Soquel Avenue Santa Cruz, CA 95062 831-426-1244 http://www.volkscafe.com > From: TJ Hannink <tjhannink@YAHOO.COM> > Reply-To: TJ Hannink <tjhannink@YAHOO.COM> > Date: Fri, 20 Dec 2002 09:34:12 -0800 > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: 2.1L Oil pressure switch R&R > > I just swapped out mine when I changed out my water pump.
