From other list members, I understand that the auto-tranny is rebuildable as a home garage project, but the manual tranny is a bear and requires lots of jigs, etc, to set it up right, read tools the home machanic prol'ly won't have. But the Auto tranny doesn't require them. Only standard hand tools. You might want to consider that. One thing, If you ever do it once, you have it made because you will have the knowlege of how it all works and how to fix it. Also I am just starting to experience some slippage between 2nd and Drive. The transmission fluid definitely needs to be serviced (I just checked it for the first time since I bought it 5 mos ago), so I'm just wondering if I'm in for a re-build, or if it could be that it just needs to be serviced. > >Any thoughts on how much I should expect to pay for a rebuild job?
