That's cool, the best of the west! If you start soon don't forget heater, can be pretty cold at night. I almost always camp at primitive camps and if you start searching for one during daylight you have a good chance to find good spot. Last year me and friend found great nice wild and free camping very close to Zion park entrance, just before seeing all the fancy houses on both sides of the road. Also camped in small "parks" in the middle of little towns when darkness fell. Only private campgrounds attract giant RVs and trailers but at this time of the year they are sitting way south like Yuma, lower Colorado river, Salton Sea etc. Leon 85 Subwagen Cruiseship On Mon, 13 Jan 2003 21:40:44 -0500, Gauthier, Bruno <brunogauthier@VIDEOTRON.CA> wrote: > I'm planning a 4-5 weeks trip to the four corners states (CO, NM, AZ, UT) > and I've been > told that camping in the Parks (State and National) is almost only for > RV's > and that we'd be stuck > between two RV's every night... > > This is not really what I'm thinking of a stay in that region. > And I'm pretty sure this is not totally true. > Can you comment this? > Are there more Westy type campgrounds (privates maybe)? > Is it possible (easy) to camp in nice (not organized) spots? > Do you know of any? > > Bruno > Westfalia '88 > 160,000miles, original motor, original heads, original radiator, lots of > water pumps... > > -- Leon
