No hoax, very real.  The girl that owned the car had paid about $700 for
it, sold it for $7000, it's now on display, can't remember where.  The
meteorite was at first confiscated by the police, later returned after
legal intervention.  The meteorite sold in the range of $70,000 and is
now available for purchase in small pieces, I believe Hoge has it.
