This weekend I upgraded from an 85 vanagon GL to an 84 Westy Wolfsburg.  In
fact, I had the new engine from the 85 put in the 84.  Going over the
mountains over the passes, the 84 was more sluggish than the straight van.
The sticker weight on the Westy (per the placard on the drivers door says it
weights around 5100#; DMV said it weights 5900#'s; the placard on my old van
said it weighed 5200 lbs.  It seems logical that the Westy would be heavier,
which would explain the poorer performance.  What is the true, approx.
weight of a Westy, at least compared to the straight van?
