Hey Subaru Gurus,

Whilst wandering the junkyard this weekend, I noticed almost all the Subarus
were missing their cylinder heads.

Are the heads a problem with Subarus?

If yes, what tends to go wrong?

I ask because I'm getting ready to perform a Vanagon/Subaru
transmogrification and would like to perform any preventative engine
maintenance on the Subaru engine before install.
