Richard, besides looking in the phone book under "Upholstery" and "Auto
Upholstery" or "Marine Upholstery" (the latter two sometimes  having things
that interior upholstery places don't carry for furniture, such as the
heavy brass screw-into-metal snaps I used for affixing my curtains) , you
can also find many upholstery items, such as foams and horsehair battings,
at large fabric stores.  Home improvement stores even have foam nowadays.

So, (my 2 cents) let your fingers do the walking-- look in the phone book
and see which type of store is nearest you and then call for stock info.
