so my van has been backfiring a little bit lately, not really a loud backfire, but i can hear it, and feel it at the exhaust. so i think i need to play with the timing. so im wondering how you get the pulley to tdc for #1. pull the coil wire to the cap and crank the engine till it comes up on #1? or can you use a large wrench to crank it at the main pulley by hand(with the coil wire off so you don't accidentally start it)? i've got a timing light that you attach to the #1 plug wire, and a battery or 12v source. would anything else be causing the backfire? any timing help appreciated. ===== Scott Wilson 85 GL Westfalia __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
