What's the quick fix for the starter cable?
The cable (the thick one that goes to the battery) tore  at the ferrule-
right below the crimp where apparently it was a tiny bit short and had some
strain on it. 

Short of replacing the entire cable -I am opened to suggestions for 
an effective repair.
