Hey there all, trying to define what engine is in the back of my vanagon.
I've been told that is everything from a 75 rabbit engine, to an 80 dasher,
or 89 golf. I have no clue, and neither does the person I got it from. I
found the engine code: ox 552-709, tried running that through the local auto
parts store, dealership and even VW central. None of them could help me
though, they didn't have it catalogued by the engine code, only the vins,
which doesn't help since the engine is before they bothered putting hte vins
on it.

All I can think to describe is that it's an inline four, with CIS fuel
injection, water cooled and resembels a rabbit type engine.

Any help would be most appreciated.
