it's just a straight black pipe .... now, on all the dumptrucks i've
seen, there are usually several
nested hydraulic cylinders. that pipe doesn't seem to be segmented at all
... and it's way too long to retract into the toolbox below without
hitting the ground underneath the bus.

Most likley it is a telescoping hydraulic cylinder, possibly two or three
stage.
The most interesting thing would be to see how much weight it could
carry.
Bout like a US pickup truck I suppose.
