The danger isn't so much when you're driving down the road, it's when
some poor sap has to dismount your tire bomb later.  This was a big issue
for shops when people would use some of the older 'fix-a-flat' cans --
many of them contained mostly propane!  (Ever wondered how they got a
whole tire's worth of "air" inside that little can?  Now you know.)

If you know you've pumped fuel into the tire and you don't get it fixed
and remounted with fresh uncontaminated air at the first opportunity you
deserve to wear you nose on the side of your head.
