If you have a dirty transmission, you probably have bad transmission or one that will be bad soon. Why are you changing the torque converter with overhauling the trans.? Dirty trans oil is caused by the clutch linings breaking down and their possibly slipping and burning up the oil. Also , you don't want to run that dirt into a new torque converter. All dirt that goes into one stays there as it instantly gets forced against the outer walls from centrifugal force. If you plan to use synthetic ATF, use it for the flush. An oil change will only remove 2-3/4 quarts with everything together. Another 3-4 quarts remains in the torque converter. Ive got a dirty AT im going to run a cleaning drive with new torque converter and dexron III quaquer state atf then dump as much as i can and replace it with Mobil 1 synthetic atf. Is the quaquer state product incompatible with my vanagon AT? or will it run ok with it in there for a while(Im guessing 50 miles or so) any suggestions Raul '89 wolfie GL _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
