I have to defend Bar's Leak at this point. I've used Bars for 40 years. Most applications were in the fleet of Chevrolet and Ford trucks I ran. I found that it sealed minor pin hole leaks in radiators and heater cores on many of my aging trucks and to my knowledge never caused any part to fail, clog up or any overheating. I also used it in a MG midget for 11 years and I put it in when I first got the MG and 11 years later I didn't have problems. I feel that any problems that VW WC have with bars leak is simply the minimum radiator and long runs that cause slow flow between the engine and radiator. I'd be curious to know; When and how does one boil out a WB engine to remover water scale buildup? I always boiled my domestic engines out with Lime-Away and then added fresh antifreeze after flushing the system with baking soda.
