Well, I pulled the dash pod out of the Westy and fixed my clock. It turns out that the flexible circuit board had a trace broken somewhere (never did find it). With a little care, the circuit board CAN be soldered successfully. I soldered a jumper wire from one end of the broken trace to the other without any difficulty. It'll be nice to have the clock working again. It's not that I care so much about what time it is. It's just that the clock is SO right in front of me when I drive, and was SO obviously broken. http://www.weirdstuffwemake.com/automotive/vanagon/HeyMyClockWorks/ Steve
