Thanks to all who responded to my request for information. New VW temp sensor and universal oxygen sensor solved the problem. Perhaps a VW temp sensor has parameters that are slightly different from an aftermarket part and this makes a difference. Has anyone had any experience with this? Seems to be getting around 19 or 20 mpg now. Much more power too. George
