Mark says: >>>>High pressure fuel injection had replaced carbs in most vehicles by the mid to late 80s though VW started about 20 years earlier. My junkyard excursions in the last few years show that it is not just Vanagon owners who should replace fuel lines to reduce the risk of fire in 10-15 year old vehicles. I see plenty of burned up engines in every make you can name. Carb fuel system pressure was down around 5 psi while FI system pressure is more like 30-50 psi. The carbed engines had only a foot or 2 of low pressurized line while FI models like ours have 10 or more feet of much higher pressure. Replace those fuel lines! Mark <<<< Well said Mark!!! that's all there is to say about fire (gas related) Nothing to do with Bay or Vanagon. I would add that carbs bus have less chance... than FI one. Now, p-mail me so you can have your "Maple Sirop" can, i lost your adress!!!!! ps.: Mark gave me some "well appreciate" help wile i was stuck in San Diego (Carlsbad), this guy is a Gentlemen (he help find the parts aboard is super Vanagon, help me with the repair and gave me a nice tarp that i have use so much that it's finish now) ! Saldly, i don't have any picture of us "all dirty" working under the Bus wile changing the trany bushing and trying to adjust the carbs! Thanks you again Sir! Ben http://pages.infinit.net/eurokit/
