I'd forgotten about the CA Dept. of Consumer Affairs. Been too long away
from the business and from Ca.  Call their 800 number and they *will*
help you out.  Calif has the toughest Automotive repair standards in the
country. The absolute *best* consumer protection in the country. You'll
find the number promenently displayed in every shop.
