I might be interested in this. Do you include how to remove the damn thing... I'm not even sure how to do that. Do I need a hydraulic jack... and how many tons should it be rated for... which leads to another topic... what is the list of tools every vanagon owner should have, I mean the complete list... I'm curious what everyones opinion would be on this. If you want to start a tool list thread, please reply with the Subject: Tool List. Now back to the automatic transmission... can it be made stronger??? For handling greater power... or for lasting longer even under a heavier load. Someone was saying that rebuilds on automatics aren't as carefree or reliable as rebuilds on manuals.. is there any truth to this, and why would that be. Then again, someone said that its easier to rebuild automatics than manuals. Kinda conflicting don't you think... >From: armando guzman <razeprotrk@HOTMAIL.COM> > >To all tinkerers and shade tree mechanics: I recentle acquired a 1988 >Vanagon, Wolfsburg adition, with a bad automatic transmission.
