Marty,
Anything is possible.  The problems or drawbacks
would be that the panels would cost a ton of
money and the performance of the solar vehicle
would make the typical 1.9l Vanagon feel like a
Porche 911.  Solar is a cool power source but the
weight of the Vanagon would present some serious
drawbacks.  Those solar cars use all kinds of
fancy materials to shave the wieght down.  It
might be hard to get over 30 miles per hour.
