well the pressure was tested at idle and at about 2,000 rpm- mech(old owner had it done) said it was 14 psi went up to abou t 17 psi I think he said- this is in spec from what I have read- I am afraid that I have the same theory as you just trying to eliminate all other options- Michael raskayamon@msn.com
