My 2 cents --- more for the benefit of the list than for someone who
doesn't care to identify themselves.
I had an I-4 conversion done about 3 months ago. It was done by a local
mechanic who specialises in vanagons and whose own 84 Westy has the same
engine in it. He uses all VW parts (diesel bellhousing etc.). I was aware
of the purported vibration problems of the I4 conversion and went ahead
with it anyway. I'm very glad I did. No vibration and smooth, smooth
power.
Cheers,
Doug

LOL
you are a die hard. and probably dont really notice the vibration on your
ass, because it is so numb. I am sure that your van is less than pure and
probably drives like a botch job. BUT you have owned it so long you dont
notice it.
If you were to re-drive a real Vanagon then I am sure you would see where
I am
coming from. You see. I have three customers that have these abortions in
their vans and they drive like a Le -car (remember them)these poor guys
really
dislike thier tiico and eurospec conversions. their vans are so
uncomfortable to
drive, not to mention I couldnt here my wife at highway speeds if I wanted
to, (maybe that is a good thing for you).
I hold my convictions with a founded reason, DO YOU? I am just trying to
give
this fellow the real bit. not a one sided I ONLY OWN ONE VAN reason. I am
sure that you are proud of your DIY conversion but try driving a nice mint
vanagon again...
