$65 for a 4' X 4' piece of sound dampening material. I'm in the wrong business. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM]On Behalf Of David Brodbeck Sent: Thursday, June 12, 2003 7:18 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Motor quieting material stuff thing On Wed, 11 Jun 2003, jon wrote: > The heavy backing of my engine cover carpet has disintegrated, and has > been removed. You might try this place: http://www.b-quiet.com/ They have several products, including some designed specifically for under-hood use. I plan on eventually covering the interior of the rear deck area of my Vanagon with their "Brown Bread" sound dampener to cut down on engine noise on the highway. I've got half a dozen more critical projects to do on the van first, though. ;) Incidentally, the air intake snorkel makes a *huge* difference in noise level on the diesels. Make sure yours is assembled. Without the snorkel the intake noise on mine dominated the engine sound so much that fixing two major exhaust leaks made no noticable difference.
