I love my automatic. I don't do much hill driving, so she cruises pretty much at the limit. Yeah, I don't get 0-60 as quickly perhaps, or the precision control of a manual, but I find the automatic snappy enough off the line, and what you get back is exactly the point: a mellow ride, less maintenance. In general, whenever I get in a Westy (any of the ones I've owned), I instantly feel a little more relaxed, like I'm on vacation. The automatic simply adds to that effect! Doing some looking for the new Westy for our house. Never have owned an auto trans but am thinking about it. Seems that there are more postings asking for help with manual transmissions than Auto transmissions. I am looking for opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of automatic transmissions in a Westy.
