I'm personally interested, as I recently bought a used VW Audio unit to replace the cheesy aftermarket stereo which formerly inhabited my dash. Despite the 'key' symbol on the front panel, the VW unit functions fine, even thru a couple maintenance-related power outages, though I fear it may someday ask for a code I do not have. What's up with this? Is there some hidden workaround for these codes, a secret we don't want to broadcast or archive here on the list to be found by crooks, hence the pmail-only responses? Without divulging secrets, can you give us the basics of this whole code business? Jeffrey Earl 1983 diesel Westfalia "Vanasazi" __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
