All my Vanagon Syncros are only rated to tow 1500 pounds. There are VERY few cars that weigh that little. Even most Lotus cars (famous or infamous for light weight) are closer to 2000 pounds than 1500 pounds. After that, most small cars are in the 2500-3000 pound range. In short, Vanagons aren't tow trucks. They really aren't rated (or designed) to be towing other automobiles. They can tow small things (canoes, jets skis, ATVs.) Just forget about them towing another car.
