I've got an 84 GL and have had a gas smell two times - once the culprit was
the fuel filter leaking. The other was the hose coming out of the overflow
unit was leaking - this is located behind the front wheel, in the wheel
well. A new fuel filter fixed the first one and a new clamp fixed the
second one. Joe
