There is no need to remove the skid plate or the distributor. All the
work can be done from above with some sensitive fingers. The pump is
actually mounted to the engine with 3 bolts and it is sealed with an
o-ring. Get the new pump and it should make sense if you look carefully.
Dennis.

Subject: Replacing water pump 86 syncro ?
Once again I'm new to this van.
So how do I replace the water pump? I don't have a Bentley yet, anyone
know
where to get them, I think I recall a site when I got my Bentley for my
99 bug.
After getting under the syncro it seems I need to drop the protection
bar,
remove the heat shield (I saw three bolts at the bottom are there ones
too at
the top?), possibly the distributor because a hose clamp is angled wrong
unless
I use a bent screw driver, Not much room in there! Any tips would be
greatly
appreciated.
I need to get a manual.
I have a rattling heater motor too!
Thanks,
