Subject:Re: Help! My New Van has the Intermittent syndrome!

Don't know if autos work this way, but the ECUs on the manuals have a
high RPM cutout. I've scared my self half to death by forgetting to
shift and then having the engine start acting like it was about to die
-- usually I do this on some steep logging road in the middle of
nowhere, so it really gets the blood presure up :-)

Anyway, just make sure that you weren't over reving.

>My Van that bought from Florida last month was the mechanics getting a tuneup
and inspection, during the inspection process here in NY they tested it on some
type of dyno system and once it hit 60mph the engine started to choke and lost
power as if it went from 4 cylinders to 3!

air flow meter with a known working unit from an 88 vanagon, mine is an 89 cara
t. He checked the plugs and lines, no problems. He said the van otherwise is ru
nning like new.
