Use a spacer (3/4") to keep the front bolt from bringing the tire carrier al the way up. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM] On Behalf Of Randy Charrette Sent: Wednesday, August 06, 2003 9:28 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: 27X8.5X14 spare tire Just purchased a full set of BFG AT's for my 87' Syncro. The guy said the spare would not fit in the compartment. I got home and checked, it does fit (in all honesty I used a jack to push it up), but looks like the steering linkage will rub as well as the AC lines have alot of pressure on them. Does anyone have a tire of this size in the compartment? Did you make any mods to get a better fit?
