Keep a trip log. Not for mileage calculations and oil change reminders,
but where you went, what campsites you liked, who you met, etc.

If you don't have kids, borrow some and take them camping.

What Luke said about not mixing trips is solid info. The first big voyage we had last year (to Utah for my bro-in-laws wedding) was one of those trips. No fun. You can't really enjoy the wedding, and it's too rushed for a camping trip. Plus, we had the kids (one still in diapers.) Never again.
