Figure out how everything works, then go camping near a Wal-Mart.

Never mix missions - if you're attending a wedding, don't wrap a camping
trip around it. You'll not only forget your cufflinks, you'll forget the
Spam.

Keep a trip log. Not for mileage calculations and oil change reminders,
but where you went, what campsites you liked, who you met, etc.

If you don't have kids, borrow some and take them camping.
